Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM Facebook Game Review

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM Logo screen

Yu-Gi-Oh! arrives on Face book, does it hold up in transition?

Check out more reviews, merchandise showcases, and much more! Also check out the official site for Yu-gi-oh! BAM! Play Yu-Gi-Oh! Bam on Facebook by clicking the link provided!

This is a yu-gi-oh BAM story chapter screen shot   Yu-Gi-Oh BAM is a variation on the popular collectible card game series, featuring quicker card games, dueling with friends, custom decks, card collecting, challenges and much more! Also featured as some of your favorite characters from the show, such as Yugi, Joey, Marik, Seto-Kaiba, and much more, including it's own story in text format and various extra challenges along the way.

This is the Yu-gi-Oh! BAM card battle screen   Starting off in the game, you will begin with a starter deck to begin with, following the story and unlock more chapters, cards, and earning coins, which can be spent on purchasing more cards to customize future decks. Game play is a bit different than playing an actual game of Yu-Gi-Oh!, such as only attack settings, rather than being able to switch a card from attack to defense and so forth, but most of the core game is intact. Spell cards are also featured, and can be deployed in the same manner as the original game, however, instead of 5 channels to lay down your monsters and spells, the game board is set to only 3, to speed up the games. Also of note is that the standard decks have been lowered to 15, making game play quicker as well, having to make more strategic use of your deck layouts. BAM suggests 10 monsters to 5 spell ratios, which makes sense, because of the lower amount of cards that can be played.

You can earn cards by playing the story chapters, completing objectives (which are needed in order to increase your level), dueling friends, or doing arena duels, which allows you to play against random people.  Dueling with others give you "card pieces", which is another currency needed to purchase booster packs and certain cards. The final currency given is the "Duel Points", only received from either purchasing them with real money, and completing certain objectives. All of these currencies can be used to purchase cards or booster packs, and some cards are added and removed in the rosters at certain intervals in updates.

Overall, a person who enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh or collectible card trading games in general, will enjoy this game, and especially if they have friends who enjoy the same kind of games too! This game does a great job of keeping to the source material of the TV show and manga interpretations, and the cards and effects are very similar to their real life counterparts!

Marvel Avengers: Alliance Facebook Game Review

Marvel Avengers Alliance Loki Thor Captain America Iron man Hulk Doom

Marvel: Avengers Alliance Game Review for Facebook

Check out more reviews, and amazing video game deals today!

Marvel Avengers Alliance Combat Screen shot iron man   Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a turn-based role playing game from Playdom, featuring a huge number of Marvel heroes and villains in a game style similar to old Final Fantasy turn based game play. You can create your own S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent using a limited selection of hair styles and colors, and he will level up through combat, and can be accompanied by 2 other Marvel Heroes. Using research, you can unlock items, equipment, and new suits for your own agent, which changes his class type, and allows you to purchase new and powerful equipment to keep up with your enemies!

earning S.H.I.E.L.D. points will allow you to research these items, as well as train (level up) heroes, and purchase certain items, such as suits and so forth. Command Points are points used to recruit new heroes to join your side, and each have different point values, from low to high cost. You can earn more S.H.I.E.L.D points by visiting allies, as well as earning Distress Calls. Distress Calls are a free action used in combat to summon a friend to help you in missions, which can turn the tide of a tough fight.

The combat in this game is turn based, and with each turn you are allowed to attack with your equipment (your own character), or your heroes' special attacks (depending on hero), with each action costing a specific amount of stamina. If you are running low on stamina, you can recharge it, but you will cost a turn to recharge it, or you can use items and distress calls if your turn is your agent. Each character has their own class, which has a counter class, and using these strategically can mean the difference between success, or failure.
marvel avengers alliance team management screen
Another aspect to customization is the training feature, which will open up "Iso slots", which are slots that allow you to purchase and add stat boosters, which are a permanent upgrade (unless replaced). These slots allow you to add more power to your heroes, enhancing their strengths or bettering their weaknesses.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance features a large story, setup in chapters and episodes, where you will do most of your game time, and allow you to unlock more story arcs with each successful completion. The missions are presented on a city map, and the combat scenarios presented are shown, allowing you face low, medium, and high threats of standard enemies. Sometimes you will be allowed to deploy heroes on deploy missions, which will net you an item after x amount of turns, but will occupy the selected hero until it is done. Mini-boss and Boss fights are also shown in each mission, allowing you to fight super villains and henchman from Marvel Lore, such as Magneto, Loki, and many more! Completing these fights will also net you items, although completely random, like Deploy Missions.
Marvel Avengers Alliance Team Management Iron Man
For Player versus Player enthusiasts, there is also tournaments, which allow you to fight other players and their selected heroes for exclusive items! You can purchase player versus player specific items to give you a boost in these season tournaments, to help give you an edge over your competition, and you will need it. My only complaint about these tournaments, is that they need to add a little more balance over certain heroes, but other than that it is pretty fun!

Overall, I found this game to be a fun distraction that adds lots of play time to this facebook game, as well as challenge! Definitely for the classic role playing game fan, as well as any fan of the Marvel Universe!

Stormfall: Age of War Facebook Review

Stormfall: Age of War Facebook Game Review

Check out more awesome reviews as well!

This is the Stormfall Age of War Main Screen, where you construct and build buildings
Stormfall: Age of War is a competitive war game on facebook where you build up a castle, attack other Lords, steal their resources, siege them, defend and attack outposts, and much more! The game starts off with a decent and length tutorial, teaching you the basics of the game, and all the nuances within. The tutorial quests feature a decent voice actor and a text summary, immersing you into the lore of the game and giving you more detail of what to do and what to accomplish. I found the tutorials in this game to be very helpful, especially to new players of Plarium's combat war games, such as Total Domination and others.

  Gameplay

This is the Stormfall Age of War Unit creation screen
There is much to do in this game, from raiding, sieges, building units, upgrading buildings, discovering new technologies, and much more! At first you will be building your main resource buildings, which include gold, iron, and food, and all of them are important in their own way. Iron is mostly used in constructing offensive units, gold for defensive units, and food is deducted for each unit and building that exists in your castle. You will also use all 3 resources in construction of your buildings and their upgrades, as well as upgrading and discovering new technologies and units.

New Technologies will grant you access to more advanced buildings, better trained units, and newer units. Each day you will receive a random scroll, which can be applied to discover a new technology, should you have enough of the required scrolls. If you do not, you can always trade them with other players via the marketplace. Once you have unlocked an unit technology, you can spend resources to upgrade them up to lvl 20, with each upgrade level increasing their overall stats by 2%.

This is Skull Runes from Stormfall Age of War, where you upgrade units to become faster and strongerSkull Runes are a commodity given through level ups and other means. These Runes can be applied on a "Tech Tree" of sorts, which will allow you to do things such as increasing their speed, build times, group unlocks, and other attributes. You will see the requirement of skull runes in each tree below going further down on said tree, allowing more customization and diversity from other Lords, based on their own strategies.

Units come in two main flavors, offensive and defense, and 5 sub categories (Infantry, Calvary, Occult Beastiary, and Mountain Dwarves). Each sub categorie is different in their own ways, and defensive units are better at countering specific types. For instance, a Dwarf is a defensive unit suited to countering infantry and calvary units, which adds a unique layer of strategy for a facebook war game.

This is a stalwart dwarf featured in Stormfall Age of WarIn this game you can join "Leagues", which are players united in a group, and form alliances with friends. You can also visit friends and create wraiths, which are special units created from friends only and you can summon them yourself with the Crypt, but only 3 a day, everyday. You can also defend your friends with reinforcements, trade, and much more as well, adding a layer of strategy and cooperation with friends, because this a competitive game, and you could use all the friends you can get!

Overall, this is a fun, competitive, war game and if you are into strategy games and player versus player combat. you will enjoy playing this game!

Dungeon Rampage Facebook Review

Dungeon Rampage: Not your average Facebook game!

Dungeon Rampage Battle Chef facebook game   See more game reviews today! Updated regularly!

Dungeon Rampage is an action RPG/Dungeon Crawler much akin to games like Diablo and their ilk, featuring randomly generated dungeons, multi-player action with up to 4 players at a given time, and lots of loots and characters to play with!

This game is different from most Facebook games, as there is no energy bar present, so you can play as much as you would like without penalty! You start off in the Rookie league, and the game offers you a brief tutorial level, featuring the highlander berserker. This character is a heavy melee based character, and the opening tutorial will teach you some of the basics of the game. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, special powers, and 3 weapon slots using the Z,X, and Y keys. Some weapons can be charged up using mana to deliver powerful attacks and abilties, such as the hammer which sends a shockwave out and damages enemies in it's way.

Dungeon Rampage Main screen facebook game
As you continue playing you will encounter loot chests, and have different levels of rarity. Common, Uncommon, and Legendary Chests, and these will require the required key in order to open them. Most of these will offer you weapons for the various characters, or perhaps some item boosts, like XP potions or power potions.

Each Character in the game has their own special power, which benefits the entire team for a brief time, but can come in handy during overwhelming odds. You get these by picking up gold stars, which can be found by destroying statues or by destroying the enviroment. Once you are ready to unleash it and have filled up your special meter bar, pressing the B button allows you to go all powerful and unleash your devasting power!

Dungeon Rampage gameplay screen facebook game
Thankfully, almost everything in this game can be bought with the in-game gold, or for a small price you can purchase "Gems", which are the real money currency, in order to purchase new characters, styles, keys, and other items. Styles are basically different character models, and you can purchase pets which will help you out in your journey.

Dungeon Rampage Storage Screen Facebook game
You can also have up to 3 other players join you in your dungeon crawls, and they can join your game mid-game if you allow it. More players inside a dungeon will increase the difficulty and XP rewards given, but can be a big help in some dungeons and boss fights. Continuing onward through the different dungeon terrains, levels, and boss fights will lead you through different leagues of increasing difficulty.

Dungeon Rampage beserker Training Screen facebook game  The action in this game is intense and reminds me of a cross between Smash TV, Diablo, and Castle Crashers. The character designs and cartoony style definitely gives me a bit of a Castle Crashers vibe, and the loot fest and money grabbing reminds me of Diablo and Smash TV, which makes for a fun combination.

Overall, I found this game to be a fun, different style of Facebook game, featuring actual live multiplayer co-operation, high replayability through looting and XP leveling, and a wide range of characters to unlock and play! I definitely recommend this game to the Facebook game player who is wanting something different!

Zynga's Coasterville Facebook Game Review

Coasterville Facebook Logo Cover

                         Coasterville Game Review!

Zynga's Coasterville is the latest facebook game to be released and so far, I've found it to be an interesting game, although they do borrow elements from their previous games. Your goal is to create the happiest amusement park, and you do so by creating park rides, food stands, gift shops, and of course... rollercoasters!

Coasterville gameplay Screen Zynga facebook    The game features a nice tutorial that will get you familiar with the game through a series of quests, teaching you the basics, such as building stands and rides, upgrading them, and finding the items necessary by searching them. Most actions in this game require 1 energy point, which recovers every 3 or 4 minutes by 1 point, the only things I've seen that don't require energy is customizing rides, painting them, and upgrading shops. You can get more by waiting, or having friends send you energy packs. Other buildings in this game help out the park customers, such as rest rooms, first aid stations, and more.

Coasterville Upgrade Screen carousel Zynga Facebook
Goods is a item which is required for almost everything in this game, and can be gotten by ordering more from the warehouse. The warehouse offers several amounts of goods to be delivered, denoted by a time associated with them, or you can visit friends to get more from their warehouses and other means.

Inspiration is an item received from visiting your friends' parks and aiding them by clicking on rides, parks, hotels, and so forth. You receive 1 for each friend, and this is used in the construction of many ride upgrades and ride construction.

Thrill points is an item received from boosting rides, and is also used as construction ingredients in many rides and some stands. Boosting rides will give you a set amount of points, and upgrading the rides will increase the amount you get for each boost! Beware, however, that boosting too much can break the rides and require more goods and such to repair and get it back to normal again.

Coasterville Wild West Mine Ride Screen
Annual passes are an item gotten from the Annual Pass Stand, and work as recommendations, like from the game Chefville. You will need these recommendations to expand your park further, so you can build more rides and whatever you wish to add.

There is a few buildings, which are used for crafting parts, food, and props, for your rides and expansions. The more advanced constructions will require crafting parts from these buildings, but thankfully, I haven't come across too much need for these buildings as of yet. You will probably need these much more often for the more advanced rides, as I have noticed for the Fantasy and Wild West themed rides, which brings me to another point.

Coasterville Gameplay Screen Zynga Facebook

Besides normal rides, like bumper cars, ferris wheels, and the like, there is also "Themed" rides and attractions. Currently, the game offers Fantasy (Medieval style), Wild West, (Cowboys and Saloons), and the Winter themes. You also receive customization options to place there, such as dirt for the wild west, and so forth, as well as themed decorations.
Coasterville Gameplay Screen facebook
You unlock more rides and amenities by getting "Park Popularity", and you get this by placing decorations, upgrading rides, and building more rides. However, your front gate only allows so many rides because topping off, which will require more friends to hire to upgrade to the next level front gate. Another item in this game, which is required for many upgrades and stands, is hospitality, which looks like a hotel bell. You get hospitality by building motels/hotels, or by asking friends.

The rollercoasters in this game have some decent customization options, and you can expand them in 4 directions, and require certain ingredients, such as goods or thrill points to expand. You can paint these rides and customize the sections with ride hills, "barn" sections (riding through an enclosure, like a barn or something), and twists and turns, corkscrews, and much more! The more expansive the ride, the more ingredients are needed for each ride section!

Overall, I find Coasterville to be a nice addition from Zynga, but however, this game does requires quite a number of friends, to experience the most from this game, like in most Zynga games. You will either need a number of friends, or you will need to spend real money to get what you need, but thankfully, you can get most, if not all, items from asking friends.

Papa's Hot Doggeria Review

Papa's Hot Doggeria Logo cover art

Papa's Hot Doggeria Grilling Station   Papa's Hot Doggeria is the latest in the Flipline Studio's line of food cooking/time management games. In this game, you are the sole runner of Papa's Hot Dog Concession stand at a baseball stadium! The game features a decent tutorial to get you started, but afterwards you are on your own. You start off with a minimum of food selections, including the basic hot dog and bun, some condiments, and starter drink of Fizzo and popcorn.

Play Papa's Hot Doggeria here on this site!

After you finish taking an order, the customer will go to the waiting line and you will begin by putting the hot dog on the grill, and after waiting a certain amount of time, it will be fully cooked, and then you flip it over on the uncooked side. Once it reaches the Green line, plus if you fully cooked on both sides, then you take it to the dressing station.

Papa's Hot Doggeria Drink and side Station
The dressing station is where you add all the condiments for the customers order, but be sure to add it in the right order with an even coating on the hot dog. Once you finish that you send it off to the drinks and side order station, where you fill their drink and side with the right size order, put it on the tray and finally give it to the customer. The customer will look at it and give you a score, based on all stations, and the wait time it took. A good order will give you a better tip, and a star, which when all 5 stars are given, they level up to bronze, silver, and gold, and give their orders faster!

At the end of the day you are given a rundown of your scores for the entire day, and you will rank up, which increases your payday amount at the end of the 7th day. You will use these funds to buy upgrades and decor for your shop, which the upgrades are very helpful in getting your orders out better! You can buy matching items in the shop and place them in the waiting area for wait time bonuses and more! You can also purchase clothing options for your character with the money you get.

Papa's Hot Doggeria Build/condiment station Inbetween days you use tickets, which you recieve during your work days for good service, to play min-games for more prizes. The games are varied, such as pitching, batting, stacking a giant burger, hide and seek, and more games! The games are fun and give you more decoration for your shop, which can be a big help.

Overall I found this game and it's previous Papa's Games to be good time killers and lot of fun in my case. You can play these games at flash game sites, such as Games Galleon or Kongregate. We have more reviews here for reading as well!

Chefville Facebook Game Review

Zynga's Chefville Game Review

Build your dream restaurant with this new social game!

Zynga's Chefville Logo

Check out more great game reviews from the Video Game Cove!

Chefville, one of the latest games from Zynga, is a game where you get to build your dream restaurant. There is a big difference between Cafeworld and Chefville. One big difference, is that you use ingredients to create your dishes, and you can gather them by using energy on their respective items, such as tomato vines, milk trucks, gathering wild onions, mushrooms, and so forth. Also, this game gives you a generous amount of energy, unlike other games where energy consumption is very strict. You start off with 25 Energy, which is more than enough just starting out.

Zynga's The Ville Review

Zynga's The Ville LogoZynga's The Ville Social Game Review!

If you want a Sims style game on facebook, this is one of them!

The Ville, is Zynga's answer to Electronic Arts' social game, "The Sims Social". The Ville starts off by creating your avatar character, and then you are giving some tutorial missions to learn the basics of the game, as in most Zynga games. One of the big differences in this game is the game still uses the Energy system, which refills slowly every 4 or 5 minutes, but you now use Happiness, which is spent of work items, like the sewing machine, and other work items, which turns your spent happiness into coins, which can be used to buy more expensive items.

Asciivania, a Metroidvania game review

Asciivania Game Review:

A great Metroidvania style flash game!

 AsciiVania gameplay Screenshot
Asciivania is a clever game done in Ascii graphics where you control an alphabet and you gain power ups such as jump and double jump, for example,as well as finding red Alphabets which will let you morph into those letters to solve word puzzles to get through the level. Using the correct letters you can form words by lining up against letters to clear them and move forward through the game.

AsciiVania gameplay Screenshot  The game is very clever in how it represents a clear throwback to games of old like castlevania and metroid, while using simple characters as levels to present good puzzle and platforming action. You can play this game on sites such as Kongregate.com and other flash gaming sites like that. I recommend you try this game out, especially if you are a fan of Metroidvania style gaming, and it's free to play, so you got nothing to lose!

Effing Worms 2 Review

Main menu for Effing Worms 2
This is a flash game that can be found on sites like Kongregrate.com and other flash related gaming sites. This is a quick game, where you start off as a small worm, and your goal is to eat all the humans and other creatures to finish each wave. After each wave you get to pick 1 of 2 upgrades presented, which can be things like extra speed, health, and so forth.
